What was Christmas Number 1 in 1980?

christmas number one

Christmas is a time for families and no member is more cherished than Grandma!

No-one quite like Grandma was an instant hit back in 1980. It managed to push John Lennon of the tops spot but only for two weeks.

Bucking the trend of Christmas singles staying at the top of the charts for 4 weeks, this song lasted 2 weeks. John Lennon’s Imagine was re;eased after his death 3 weeks previously.

St Winifred’s School choir proved the vocals to the song written for The Queen Mother’s 80th birthday.

The song was re-recorded in 2009 for Innocent Drinks to highlight the charity Age Concern.
