Edinburgh Panto Review: Cinderella

Last weekend we went to the Edinburgh Panto, cue “Oh no you didn’t!”, “Oh yes we did!” jokes aplenty!

The Panto is a Christmas tradition in our house, and a new one at that. We went last year for the first time, and giggled our way through 2 hours of quality entertainment!  On leaving we vowed to come back every year as it was so gloriously festive. But the real treat are the trio of actors, who are responsible for the main laughs.

Andy Gray, Grant Stott, Allan Stuart lead the cast in this age old fairytale of finding true love, in Edinburgh. From the opening lines, you know you are in for another round of festive fun and frolics.

The show opens with the evil Step-Mother introducing herself, with gags and puns, and ‘I’m watching you’ stares. Baroness Hibernia Hard Up, the ex wife of Cinderella’s Dad, who she has fitted up for a crime and is serving time at Saughton prison, sets the flavour of this deliciously Edinburgh themed gag fest. Long time Hibs Fan, Grant Stott, cajoles the audience with just the right amount of Jambo jokes.

No Terrible Twosome

Andy Gray and Allan Stuart are the perfect stage duo, having worked together for so long they finish each others sentences. Starring as Buttons and Fairy May, the duo delight the audiences with their comic capers. Their enthusiasm for their roles is contagious and you can’t help but smile as they deliver their lines.

There are jokes for all ages with Mum and Dad only jokes and ones for the kids, that will have them rolling in the aisle!  There’s enough join-in songs and slapstick humour to keep little ones amused for the full two hours.

The effects just before the interval had my inner 8 year old in awe!
